Greensburg residents will get their

first look Monday at the town’s new school.

The southwest Kansas community was virtually wiped off the map

three years ago by a tornado. Since then the town has become a

symbol of energy-efficient building as it picked up the pieces.

One of its main attractions is the $50 million school that’s

packed with features designed to lower utility costs.

Classes start Thursday at what now is Kiowa County Schools after

the district consolidated with Haviland and Mullinville.

But before students flood the bright, sunlit hallways, community

members will get their chance to see the school’s amenities at a

grand opening on Monday.
