Greeley Leaves BJ’s Feeling Gray

Greeley put the pressure on early and beat the Liberal Bee Jays 7-5 Tuesday night at Brent Gould Field. The game was called in the ninth due to lightning but was a complete game. The Grays scored three in the first, two in the second, and one in the third for a 6-2 lead. Liberal out hit the Grays 12-9 but lost. The loss breaks a five game BJ win streak.

UTA’s Kasey Merck went four innings and allowed six runs. Malloy’s Justin Jorgenson pitched one-third of an inning and walked two. Kansas State’s Jared Moore pitched two and one third innings with four strikeouts and one run. Hawaii’s Brent Harrsion pitched an inning and one third and faced the minimum.

Nicholls State’s Blake Bergeron homered for the second time this summer. Wichita State’s Micah Green was 2-3 with a triple and UTA’s Ryan Walker was 2-5 wit ha triple. Seward’s Jake Barrios was 2-4 with a double. Angelo State’s Toby Semler was 2-4 with a double.

Liberal is 17-6 and hosts Greeley again Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Jerry Harding State Farm Insurance is the buyout sponsor.
