The Great Bend Panthers swept the Liberal softball team 17-6 and 10-6 Thursday afternoon at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

In game one, the Panthers scored two in the first and five in the third to lead 7-0.  LHS plated two in the fourth to make it 7-2.  GBHS put up a six spot in the fourth to lead 13-2.  Both teams scored four in the fifth as the game ended in a run rule after five.  Great Bend out-hit Liberal 13-11.  Great Bend had the game’s only error.  Lexi Miller, Allie Champion, Miley Janko, and Taylor Harding had two hits a piece.  Miley Janko and Zoey Torres hit home runs.  Allie Champion had two doubles.

In game two, the Lady Red started fast with a two run first.  Great Bend countered with five in the bottom of the second.  GBHS scored again in the third to lead 6-2.  LHS and Great Bend both scored in the fourth to make it 7-3.  LHS scored three in the fifth to make it 7-6.  But the Panthers had yet another answer with three in the sixth.  Great Bend out-hit Liberal 14-5.  Neither team had an error.  Brooklyn Short was 2-3 with a home run.  Miley Janko hit another round tripper.

Great Bend is 10-1 and 5-0 in the WAC.  Liberal is 3-4 and 0-3 in the WAC.  Tuesday LHS travels to Maize to play Maize and McPherson.
