The two major-party candidates for Kansas

governor have agreed to take part in a televised debate next week.

Republican U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback and Democratic state Sen. Tom

Holland said Tuesday they will debate Oct. 7 on KWCH-TV in Wichita.

The event will also be carried on the station’s regional

affiliates in Dodge City, Goodland, Hays and Salina.

Brownback and Holland have debated just once so far, on Sept. 11

at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Their campaigns have been

negotiating schedules to coordinate additional debates before the

Nov. 2 election.
