Goodland Jumps on Liberal Early

Playing for the first time since 2017, the Goodland Cowboys and Liberal Redskins got together at Max Jones Fieldhouse in Goodland on Monday evening.  Both teams were short one game so this game was scheduled to fill the 20 game schedule.  Goodland started fast and didn’t look back in a 76-50 win over the Redskins.  Liberal loses their 14th straight game.

The Cowboys led 15-3 early and led 24-10 after one.  Goodland led 45-21 at the half after LHS committed 14 turnovers in the first half.  Goodland led 67-39 after three.  There was a running clock for the fourth quarter.

Goodland was 14-25 from three point range and forced 20 Liberal turnovers.  Goodland shot 56 percent in the win.  The Cowboys made 14-24 from three point range.  Liberal had 13 assists in the loss.  The Redskins shot 34 percent which is there season average.  LHS made 9-22 from three.

James Fieser led Liberal with 18 points equaling his high.  Zayden Martinez had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Brooks Kappelmann had 10 rebounds.

Liberal is 2-15 and Goodland is 9-8.  The Redskins host Great Bend for homecoming Saturday night at about 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.  Sunflower Bank is the buyout sponsor so admission is free.
