Goddard Eisenhower Sweeps Redskins

The last time the Goddard Eisenhower Tigers ventured to Liberal, it was a much different scenario for the Liberal Redskins.  In 2015, the Skins topped the Tigers in Liberal to make their second ever state tournament.  Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon and evening at the National Beef Sports Complex and it was Goddard Eisenhower winning 14-5 and 13-2.  The Redskins committed a mind numbing nine errors in game one and were hit-less in game two.

In game one, the Redskins scored a run in the first.  Eisenhower countered with two in the second and one in the third to lead 3-1.  LHS plated one in the bottom of the third to make it 3-2.  The Tigers broke it open with four in the fourth, six in the fifth, and one in the sixth.  The Redskins scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth.  Goddard Eisenhower out-hit Liberal 15-9.  Liberal committed nine errors and Eisenhower had four.  Ethan Olmstead was 3-4 with three runs.  Xavier Porras was 2-4.  Skyler Hubbard had a double.  Redskin pitching allowed six earned runs with three strikeouts and five walks.

Goddard Eisenhower pitched a no hitter against the Redskins in game two.  The Tigers scored two in the first, four in the second, five in the fifth, and two in the sixth for the run rule win in six innings. The Skins scored one in the second and one in the fifth.  Eisenhower out-hit Liberal 14-0.  The Tigers had two errors and Liberal had three.

Goddard Eisenhower is 3-3 and Liberal is 3-7.  The Redskins host Great Bend Friday at 4pm with Redskin Pre-game at 3:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
