Continuing a solid 2011 campaign, Seward County
sophomore outside hitter Courtney Geesing has been named the KJCCC
Player of the Week after helping the Lady Saints to a 2-1 record over
the past seven days. Geesing averaged 3.90 kills and 2.20 digs per game
this week and had 10 or more kills in all three Seward County matches.
Monday against Garden City she put down 10 kills without an error and
also had a pair of blocks in a win over the Busters. On Wednesday she
was the lone bright spot for Seward, finishing with 14 kills and 8 digs
in a loss to Dodge City. On Saturday at Cloud County, Geesing tied a
career high with 15 kills and also chipped in 10 digs as she led the
Lady Saints to a win over the Lady T-Birds. It is the second time in
her career that Geesing has won the award after taking home the honors
in week two last season as a freshman.
