The Garden City Public Schools Board of Education hired a new superintendent during a special meeting on Tuesday.
The board approved hiring Dr. Terry McCarty. The approval was done after forums were conducted with community members and district staff.
The Garden City school district says McCarty is a western Kansas native with 35 years of educational experience. He holds degrees from Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University. He currently serves as the principal of South Gray High School and Montezuma Elementary School and has held many leadership roles in Oklahoma schools.
The district says McCarty will start with the district during the 2025-2026 school year.
