Frustrating Day for Redskins in Garden City

Liberal stranded runners on base and played sloppy defense Saturday as Garden City swept the Redskins Saturday. The Buffaloes win 7-3 and 10-4. It was a celebration for Garden City’s seniors on their senior day at Clint Lightner Field in Garden. The Redskins left 20 runners on base and committed nine errors in the double header.

In game one, the Buffaloes scored one in the first, one in the second, one in the fifth, and four in the sixth. LHS scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Angel Archuletta was 2-4 with an RBI. Collin Ware pitched five and two thirds innings and allowed seven runs but just three were earned runs. LHS had GCHS had six hits a piece but the Skins had three errors and left 11 runners on base.

In game two, the Buffaloes jumped all over the Redskins with five runs in the first. They added runs in the second, fourth, and three in the sixth. Liberal scored one in the first and three in the seventh. Garden only out-hit Liberal 12-11 but LHS had six errors and the Skins stranded nine runners on base. Starting pitcher Jared Hasik allowed just two earned runs but seven total. Kaiden Long was 3-4 with two doubles in the loss.

Liberal is 9-7 overall and 1-3 in the WAC as Garden is 6-9 and finishes 3-5 in the WAC.
