Liberal Wrestling Club traveled to Dodge City on Saturday, April 5 for the first Freestyle
and Greco tournament of the season. Liberal took seven wrestlers.

“The two guys that wrestled Greco had it tough. They combined 16U and Juniors, which
made the competition even tougher. AC had a great performance, battling through injury and
taking out many opponents that were ranked higher. Iovani performed very well for being an 8th
grader wrestling high schoolers, placing where he did is a very proud moment for us coaches,”
Coach Javon Allen said.

Results for Greco:
AC Gomez – 2nd, 2 pins
Iovani Chavez – 6th, 1 pin

After Greco was complete, the Freestyle competition began. “The kids faced adversaries
with stride, working through difficult positions while maintaining composure. Great mat time to
reference back to in the future. More time on the mat is more experience for the future,” Coach
Mario Zuniga said.

Liberal Wrestling Club will be traveling to Holly, CO this weekend for a folkstyle
tournament.
