Free Throws Foil the Saints Opener

Seward shot better from the field than the Allen Red Devils Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse in Iola. But the foul line was a thorn in the sides of the Saints all night in a 76-72 season opening loss.  The Saints made 11-28 free throws and 6-18 in the second half.  Allen made 29-39.
Seward led 32-31 at halftime.  The Saints led 50-43 with 10:30 to play.  They led 62-55 before Allen’s 16-4 run to lead 71-66 with :51.5 seconds left.  Seward would pull to within one at 73-72 with 17 seconds left on a Sam Henderson steal and lay up.
Erik Pratt scored 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Stephen Takyi had 14.  Sam Henderson dropped in 10.  Ahamadou Sillah scored 12.  Allen’s Cedric Rollerson scored 27 and made 16-16 free throws.
Allen is 2-1.  Seward hosts Cowley Saturday afternoon at 4 on 107.5 and kscbnews.net.
