Liberal, Kansas – Seward County Softball will have a familiar face to Lady Saints fans on their staff for the 2025 season as former Seward County pitcher Ireland Caro returns to Liberal to begin her coaching career following a great few years at the collegiate level.
“I’m super excited to be back at Seward and help give back to the program that helped shape me and helped prepare me to take this next step” said Caro.
Originally from Abernathy, Texas, Caro spent the past four years playing collegiate softball between Seward County and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. While with the Lady Saints, Caro appeared in 52 total games with 22 starts on the mound where she recorded 17 wins over the course of two years. She struck out 110 batters through 237.1 innings before moving on to the four-year level to suit up for the Rangers. While at NWOSU, she appeared on the mound in 12 total games with 10 starts that saw her strike out 18 batters in 44.1 innings before graduating with her bachelors.
“I am thrilled to have Ireland Caro join our staff, her playing experience will help with her coaching experience” said Head Coach Kristen Silva. “She was a pitcher while her time at Seward County and then moving on to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Excited to have an alumni come back and share their knowledge for the game to our athletes!”
Seward County softball will kick off their 2025 season in February when they face Crowder on the road in a doubleheader before facing Northeastern Oklahoma A&M twenty-four hours later. Their first appearance at home in Liberal will see the Lady Saints take on Frank Phillips on February 11th in front of their home crowd.
