Former BJ Signs with Wingnuts

THIBODAUX, La. – Former Liberal Bee Jay Blake Bergeron has signed a professional contract with the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball the team announced.

The Nicholls State product played in 2010 and 2011 for the Bee Jays. Bergeron was the most productive hitter on the 2010 championship team. He hit .355 with 11 homers and 52 RBI’s in rout to an NBC World Series championship. In 2011, Bergeron hit .318 with six homers and 51 RBI’s for the 33-18 BJ’s.
During his college career , Bergeron appeared in 175 games in a Nicholls uniform, making 166 starts which included starting every game as a junior and senior. Hitting .265 for his career , Bergeron finished with 164 hits, 32 for doubles, 11 for triples and 15 home runs, driving in 110 runs during that time.

He joins the Wingnuts as they currently lead the AA Central Division by 8.5 games with a 31-11 record. As an expansion team to the league in 2008, the Wingnuts play at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita.
