Floyd Donates Aircraft to the Air Museum

Long time Liberal Agricultural Aviator, Jim Floyd, has donated his airplane, a 1971 Grumman Ag Cat, to the Mid America Air Museum. There will be an official donation ceremony on May 1st at 6:00 pm athe the Museum and everyone is invited.

Jim will be joined by his longtime friend and Virginia Tech classmate, Homer Hickam. Mr. Hickam was the featured main character in his memoir, “Rocket Boys” which was adapted into the popular movie, “October Sky”. In the movie, Mr. Hickham was played by teenage actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Homer has a long and productive career as a NASA scientist/engineer training American and Japanese astronauts and Soviet Cosmonauts. In addition, Homer has been extensively involved in activities as a scuba diver, dinosaur hunter, and writer, winning many awards for his contribution to the advancement of several fields. This is a unique opportunity for folks in the Liberal and surrounding area, to hear and meet an individual with accomplishments in so many areas of endeavor.
