(AP) – Garden City officials say discussion
about possible flights between Wichita and cities in the Garden
City area are at a standstill.
Rachelle Powell, director of aviation at Garden City Regional
Airport, says there’s still interest in the flights, but funding
sources aren’t currently available.
Powell met with city officials earlier this month to discuss a
feasibility study on the flights. The study found that it would be
cheaper to drive than to fly from places like Garden City, Liberal
and Dodge City to the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport.
However, Powell says there is still support for the flights
because they would save time for travelers.
Currently, no air service connects Wichita to the rest of the
state.
