Fires Flare Up Again In The Panhandle

Another grass fire kept fire fighters busy in the panhandle of Oklahoma Thursday evening. The call came in at around 6:30pm of a grass fire just west of Optima in Texas County. Fire units from Guymon, Hooker, Hardesty, and Tyrone were dispatched to the scene along with road crews from Texas County District #2. According to Harold Tyson, Emergency Management Director, the extra units were called out as a precaution, so the fire did not get out of control, like Tuesday’s fire. With gusty winds once again, the crews aggressively attacked the blaze and had it under control and were sending crews home by 7:30 according to Frosty Osborne, Assistant Emergency Management Director. Acreage invovled in trhis fire was kept to a minimun.
