Firefighting Airplane Could be Used In Rural Fires

Thursday morning members of Seward County Fire Rescue and the City of Liberal Fire Rescue conducted training with a local spray pilot to perform wildfire suppression in our area.

If the need arises, members of Liberal Fire Rescue will provide personnel to fill the plane and coordinate air operations with Seward County Fire Rescue on a wildfire incident.

This is just one more tool in their toolbox to protect rural residents from the dangers of wildfires. Both fire departments continue to encourage residents to be FireWise during this extremely dry and windy conditions that we are facing in our area.
