For the first time in her storied Seward County career, Lady Saints fireballer Sydney Cicchetti has been named the NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week. She pitched the Lady Saints to a 4-0 record in her four starts, beating Garden City, Butler, Maple Woods, and Johnson County.
In 26 innings of work she allowed just 3 earned runs, good for a 0.81 ERA, while striking out 20 and walking just 6. Monday she pitched the Lady Saints to a big win over Garden City while going a complete game and striking out 7 and followed that up with a complete game win over Butler on Wednesday when she again fanned 7 without allowing an earned run. This weekend in the BuCo bash the British Columbia native threw 2 more complete games while allowing just 1 earned run in a win over Maple Woods, and just 2 hits in a shutout of Jayhawk East member Johnson County.
