Federal Judge Swears In New Citizens

A federal judge presided over the
swearing in of 45 people as they became U.S. citizens in a ceremony
in Dodge City.
Judge Eric Melgren of the U.S. District Court for Kansas on
Friday presided over the swearing. The naturalized citizens came
from nine different countries. Melgren said it was an honor because
in 1945, his grandparents took oaths as new citizens of the United
States.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Representative Jake Hoffman read each person’s
name and country or origin, before the 45 took the oath of
citizenship, which was read by the district court clerk.
