One night after scoring 24 points in a home loss to Cheney, the Dodge City Red Demons were red hot Friday night. The visiting Liberal Redskins struggled to defend the Demons who shot 56 percent from the field and made 12-22 from three point range. Dodge City’s Ty Scheck scored 25 on 7-13 from three point range.
The Red Demons jumped on the Redskins early to win the Backyard Battle for the Bell. DCHS led 31-15 after one quarter and led 58-31 at halftime. Dodge City’s biggest led was 31 at 78-47.
Dodge City forced 16 LHS turnovers while Dodge had 10 turnovers. Liberal shot 41 percent from the field but went just 1-8 from three while Dodge City made seven 3’s in the first quarter alone. LHS was 12-17 from the free throw line and Dodge was 5-6.
James Fieser scored 24 points in the loss. Eathan Hernandez was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 15 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
Dodge City wins their 11th straight over LHS. The Red Demons are 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the WAC. Liberal is 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the WAC. Liberal plays in the Adolph Rupp Invitational Tuesday at 6pm at Halstead against the Haven Wildcats. The game will air on 1270 and 92.3.
