Dodge City Dominates Seward Women

Liberal, Kansas – Seward County fell in a tough battle with Jayhawk rival Dodge City Saturday afternoon on Redskin Field with the Conqs scoring three goals against the Lady Saints who were unable to find their offensive rhythm with only four shots landing on goal before wrapping up the contest in a 3-0 loss for the Green and White.

The first half of action saw both sides fighting over possession to try and push ahead to be the first team on the scoreboard. Miu Kamei helped protect the goal with multiple key saves to keep the score sheet blank at 0-0 fifteen minutes into the half. It was not until there was 6:22 left in the half that the first goal found its way into the net with Dodge City launching a rocket past Kamei and the Lady Saints defense for a 1-0 lead entering the halftime break.

Seward County could not fend off the Conqs offense in the second half with the Lady Saints giving up a second goal twelve minutes following halftime to fall further behind with a 2-0 deficit to Dodge City. Dayra Dinarte and Isabelle Artley tried to help the Lady Saints climb out of the hole they were dug into with some perfectly placed shot on goal attempts but were cut short by the Conqs goalkeeper who dove in front to keep SCCC scoreless. A final goal with 20:00 minutes to go made it a 3-0 game with Dodge City holding a commanding lead and despite multiple offensive charges down the field, Seward County was unable to find their way on to the score board.

The Lady Saints now fall to 2-3-2 on the 2024 season with a Jayhawk record of 1-3-1. Their next matchup will put them against another top ten nationally ranked opponent in the #8 Butler Grizzlies on the road this upcoming Wednesday with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 PM.
