Destyni Lucero is Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week

Liberal senior cross country runner Destyni Lucero is Mead Lumber Athlete of the Week. Lucero finished fourth at the Western Athletic Conference meet last week in Garden City for her fourth straight first team all WAC season. Lucero’s best time this season was a 15:00 run at Hays. She is trying to make state for a fourth consecutive season. She finished 28th at state as a junior and 39th as a sophomore and also qualified for state as a freshman. She has qualified the past two years for state in track and field as well.

Liberal competes at the regional meet at Lake Barton Golf Course in Great Bend Saturday with an 11 a.m. girls race and a boys competition at 11:30. Liberal competes with Great Bend, Hays, Salina Central, Salina South, Valley Center, Newton, and Maize South.
