After leading her team to a perfect 4-0 record over the
weekend, Seward County sophomore outside hitter Daiane Souza has been
named the KJCCC Player of the Week. Souza was a model of consistency
over the weekend, recording at least 2 kills in all 14 games for Seward.
In the season opener against Dodge City, Souza notched a team high 10
kills and had 4 digs for the Lady Saints in the win. In the second game
on Friday she recorded 9 kills and was also a part of 4 blocks at the
net in the Lady Saints victory over Otero. Saturday she was up to more
of the same, pacing the team with 12 kills in a four set win over Lamar
and reaching double figures in kills yet again as she led the team with
10 put aways in Seward's big win over Laramie County. Overall on the
weekend she averaged 2.93 kills, 1.21 digs, and .71 blocks per game
while hitting .299.
