Seward County Lady Saints women’s soccer hit the road on Wednesday towards Arkansas City, Kansas to take on their seventh nationally ranked opponent of their inaugural season in the #16 Cowley Tigers where Seward County was unable to find any offensive firepower and was blanked by Cowley 5-0 in KJCCC action.
After falling to #13 Hutchinson this past weekend, the Lady Saints went into Arkansas City, Kansas with a chip on their shoulder against the nationally ranked Tigers who quickly took a 1-0 lead with their first goal only 15:15 into the game, and never looked back. Through the rest of the first half Seward County endured an onslaught from Cowley who scored three more times in the first 45:00 minutes of action to go into halftime down 4-0 against the Tigers. One more score in the second half by Cowley made the score 5-0 and that was how the contest finished with the Lady Saints falling in a shutout.
Goalkeeper Sydney Williams faced 20 shots on goal through 90:00 minutes of action, recording 15 saves from the shots she faced. Three Lady Saints players attempted shots against the Tigers, with Dayra Dinarte leading the way with two of them and Natoya Atkinson attempting the only shot on goal.
Seward County women’s soccer now falls to 1-9-2 in their inaugural 2023 season. They will look to regroup back in Liberal, Kansas as they face the Garden City Broncbusters at home on Redskin Field in a 1:00 PM matchup on Saturday.
