On Monday, April 17th, Officers of the Hugoton Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of South Harrison Street in Hugoton to check on the welfare of a child. Officers found a 3-year-old male with visible signs of abuse. Upon further investigation, it was also determined that on more than one occasion the child was left at the residence alone for long periods of time. The child was removed from the home and placed into Police protective custody.

Two adults were arrested, Chandra Clark, 19 of Hugoton for one count of Child Abuse and two counts of Aggravated Endangering a Child. Garrette Hinds, 20 of Hugoton was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Endangering a Child. Both were transported to the Stevens County Jail. An Affidavit has been forwarded to the Stevens County Attorney for formal charges.
