County Commission Meets, Appoints Carr as Chair, Helm as Vice-Chair

The Seward County Board of Commissioners met on Friday due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. The Board reorganized and appoint Scott Car as Chair and Steve Helm as Vice-Chair.

Brock Theiner of the Landfill present the Board with his Annual report, which in turn will be submitted to the State of Kansas.

The Commission approved a Facility Fee Waiver Application for the Activity Center for St. Anthony Catholic Church as it does meet the criteria as set forth by the Commission. The request for a Facility waiver for a Liberal Soccer Tournament for the Activity Center was also approved.

Commissioners adopted Resolution 2025-06 which authorizes participation in the Rural Opportunity Zones for 2025. Also approved was Resolution 2025-03 for revisions of certain provisions of the Seward County Zoning regulations and subdivision regulations.

Commissioners approved $19760 for approve the purchase of the bid for a floor machine for the Seward County Activity Center. Also approved by the Board of County Commissioners was the invoice for Federal Signal Corporation in the amount of $36,008.00 for the installation of four new tornado sirens.

A change order was approved for the Courthouse remodel for additional concrete on the east side of the Courthouse and two new trench drains. Cost f the Change order is $8,380.00.

The County Commission approved the 2025 Airport Lease Agreement for Seward County Activity Center in the amount of $3,029.89.

Portfolio assignments were given to the Commissioners.
