Cougars Can Too Many 3’s for Saints

The number 15 ranked Barton Cougars are hitting their late season stride.  Wednesday night that came at the expense of the Seward County Saints  Barton buried their first six three pointers of the firsSt half and the second half on the way to an 84-68 win over the Saints Wednesday night at the Kirkman Center in Great Bend.  The Cougars connected on 14-25 three pointers.

Barton led 20-7 before the Saints of Seward trimmed the lead to 20-12.  Barton led 38-27 at the half.  The Co5gars led by as many as 26 in the second half of the win.

Barton shot 54 percent from the field making the 14-25 three pointers.  Seward sh.ot 49 percent from the field and made 9-23 three pointers.  Barton was 4-6 at the foul line and Seward was 5-12.  Seward committed 13 turnovers while Barton had nine.  Barton led points off turnovers 23-15.  The Saints led points in tbe paint 30-24.  Barton out rebounded the Saints 33-29.

Kiku Parker was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 18 points and six assists.  Muhammed Jobe had 12 points and eight rebounds.  Carson Bennett and Nfaba Mane added 12 a piece.

Barton is 20-5 overall and 14-5 in the Jayhawk.  Seward falls to 3-20 overall and 2-16 in the KJCCC.  Seward plays at Fort Hays Tech Saturday night at 8:30 central time on 107.5.  The Saints will be featured during the Southern Pioneer Electric Green Line at 6pm Thursday night at Billy’s on 1270 and 92.3.
