The Liberal soccer team beat Wichita Southeast in a second penalty kick after a scoreless regulation and double overtime. The two teams finished tied after the first penalty kick and Liberal won it in the second in the semifinals of the Wichita South Titan Classic Thursday. Wichita Southeast brought many players back defensively and didn’t attack offensively to keep the score down. Liberal goalie Frederic Gomez injured his ribs in the second half and then back up Gerald Espinoza is out four to six weeks with an injury during the first penalty kicks. Third string goalie sophomore Jorge Acosta came out for the final round of PK’s for the win. Liberal plays Hutchinson in the championship of the Wichita South Titan Classic Saturday at 3 p.m. Liberal beat the Salt Hawks 1-0 November 3 at Redskins Field to advance to the “Final 4.”
