Contreras Lifts Liberal Past Holcomb

Hailey Contreras scored 20 points in leading the Liberal girls past Holcomb Saturday night in the Big House.  Liberal won despite a Friday night injury which sidelined starting guard Kylie Rhine.  Liberal played with seven players.  Liberal won 52-37.

Liberal jumped out to a 9-2 lead and led 9-4 after one.  Liberal led 16-10 but Holcomb heated up to make it 22-21 just before half.  That’s when Contreras banked in a half court shot from the Redskin logo to give Liberal a 25-21 lead at halftime despite Holcomb making 5-9 of their three pointers in the first half.  Liberal led 32-23 with 4:50 to play in the third.  Liberal led 36-30 after three.  The Lady Red out scored Holcomb 16-7 in the fourth quarter.

Liberal out rebounded Holcomb 32-23.  Liberal made 39 percent of their shots while Holcomb shot 32 percent.  LHS was 3-13 from three and Holcomb was 6-18.  Liberal was 9-13 at the foul line and Holcomb was 3-7.

Hailey Contreras was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 20 points.  Kamilah Delgado had 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Shamari Lewis had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Holcomb and Liberal are both 3-1.  Liberal plays at Wichita South Saturday afternoon at 2pm with Redskin Pre-game at 1:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
