After leading his Saints to a 31-7 season and a 3rd
place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament, Seward County Saints Head
Coach has been named the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Coach of
the Year. Zollinger’s Saints captured the school’s first ever back to
back Jayhawk West Conference Championship this season, going 12-4 in
conference play. He then led Seward to a perfect 4-0 record in the
Region VI Tournament to help them earn a berth in the NJCAA National
Tournament for the second time in his five years at Seward County. In
Hutchinson, the Saints won their first two games to reach the Final Four
before falling to #2 Northwest Florida State, but bounced back, like
Zollinger’s first trip to The Tournament, to win the 3rd place game.
This marks the second time Zollinger has garnered the KBCA Coach of the
Year award, after also bringing home the award after the 2008 season.
Zollinger holds a career record of 137-38, good for a .783 winning
percentage which is the best in school history.
