The City of Liberal is running their annual sewer rate evaluation period for residents and customers. This period runs from December – March 12 and measures average water use for each service connection. The amount of water you use from December to mid-March helps determine your new sewer rate effective April 1.

This average is used to determine the monthly sewer rate charged to customers every year. This year-long rate is unique to you and is based on the amount of water you use. The City measures during the evaluation timeframe annually and adjust your new sewer rate to become effective April 1.

Measuring during the winter months helps exclude periods of higher water use during the summer season due to watering lawns and filling swimming pools.

If a residential or a small non-residential customer transfers service from one city address to another, the customer’s existing sewer rate shall apply at the new address until the next sewer evaluation period.
