City Commission Meets,Approves 7th and Western Plat

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening for their regular meeting. The Commission was introduced to the newly crowned Miss Kansas Junior High, Cyara Heredia, a student at South Junior High.

The Commission approve Ordinance 4440 the annexation of land into the City for the construction of the new Eisenhower Middle school,and later in the meeting approved the Plats for the project.

The Commission also approved the Plats for the 7th and Western Project which will include a grocery store and 3 other businesses. Representatives of the Project from Denver were in attendance at the meeting to answer any questions.

The Commission moved to 2nd Readings the Ordinances for the Standard Traffic Ordinance and the Uniform Public Offense Code.

Commissioners approved the Police Department using Comet Cleaners of Liberal for the cleaning of the Departments uniforms, and accepted grants for the Department from outside agencies. The H.U.G.S.Program of Southern Pioneer donated $5000 to the Shop With A Cop Program,and Heifer Source LLC donated $2000 to the Police Dept. to use at their discretion.

Commissioners also appointed Judy Chance and Robert Oblander to the Library Board and Rollie Van Wyhe to The Parks and Rec. Board.
