The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm in the City Commission Chambers for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda the Commission approved Resolution 2188 authorizing the calling of the question for the voters to decide if the City should collect a 1/2 cent sales tax to assist in paying for the USD 480 school project. The election will be held on April the 8th, 2014. Housing was also before the Liberal City Commissioners with several potential projects. Approved were the 1st Reading of Ordinace 4420 which would rezone 15.9 acres of land in the McCray addition from General Commercial to a Two-Family District, Resolution 2186 which establishes another Rural Housing Incentive District, a plat for the Village at the Plaza Housing Project, and Resolution 2187 which would establish a Public Hearing concerning the adoption of a plan for the Neighborhood Revitalization Act. The hearing is set for February 11th at 6:30pm. Among other items on the agenda the Commission approved spending $7,600 in grant and donated monies for the First Lego League events and programs, approved the purchase of 3 scanners for Municipal Court, appointed Connie Seigrist to a 3 year term to the Convention and Visitors Bureau Advisory Board, and approved the low bid from M & M Golf Cars of Lees Summit MO for the purchase of 30 golf carts and one utility cart on a lease/purchase program at the cost of $15,532.80 a year for 4 years. The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be February 11.
