City Commission Meets

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday night in the City Commission Chambers at 6:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda the Liberal City Commission approved the condemnation of a property at 114 W. Coolidge, but gave the new owner, Chris Rogers, 120 days to work with City staff and make adequate progress on the project. Also condemned was a property at 1011 E. 8th Street. The owner of the property has already made significant progress on the cleaning up of the property and the Commission gave them 30 days to complete the job. City Commissioners appointed Gary Classen and Debbie King to 4 year terms on the Parks and Recreation Board, and approved a contract with Air Products to purchase water from the City’s Arkalon Wells. The amount paid would be the same amount current customer, Arkalon Energy is paying. The Liberal City Commission approved spending up to $3,970.00 for the Liberal Police Department’s participation in National Night Out. LPD staff will work with business and organizations to gather donations to help offset these costs. The date for National Night Out in Bluebonnet Park is August 2nd. Commissioners also approved the expenditure of $15,874.00 for upgrades to the Police Department’s LiveScan system. These monies will come from the Diversion Fund. The next regular meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be May 10th.
