The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and recognized Alicia Hidalgo as a Master Municipal Clerk.

Commissioners approved authorizing solar energy generation improvements and provided for the payment of the costs at the Police Department, Recreation Center, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and City Hall. Commissioners designated $800,000 from the Streets, Drainage, and Other Capital Improvements portion of the One Cent Sales Tax to get the project underway.

The Commission approved the purchase of 11 ballistic vests for the Liberal Police Department and approved the purchase an off-lease mower and an off-lease sand bunker rake for the Golf Course.

Also approved was the Financial Policies & Procedures Manual and the Language Access Plan. The City Commission adopted a new city slogan – “from generosity to prosperity” – and the modified logo design.

Debra Huddleston was appointed to serve on the library board. The city agreed to trade usable lots to G&G for their two unusable ones. The city agrees to mow and maintain the lots received and G&G agrees to build homes on the lots transferred from the city.

Discussion was held on Animal Control.
