Cano to Present Board of Education with Three Options

The USD 480 Board of Education will have to make a decision concerning the Dual Language Program on Monday night during their regularly scheduled meeting at the Education Service Center

Director of Federal Programs, Laura Cano has put together three options for the board.

Option one includes keeping the Dual Language program and spreading some of the ESL teachers around to help reduce the teacher/student ratio.

Option two would abolish the Dual Language program, which would allow the funds to go toward extra ESL teachers.

Option three would be to raise the Local Option Budget to help pay to keep the Dual Language Program and hire extra ESL teachers.

The Dual Language program at McDermott Elementary was recognized back in September along with the ‘Success for All’ program by Senator Pat Robert’s office.
