The Butler Grizzlies took two from the Seward County softball team Wednesday afternoon in El Dorado. Butler won 7-2 and 11-3.
In game one, the Saints grabbed the lead with a run in the first. But the Grizzlies scored three in the third, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth. Seward scored another run in the seventh. Butler out-hit Seward 11-7. Seward had three errors and Butler had two. Avery Ragsdale was 3-3. Aaliyah Gutierrez pitched the distance with four strikeouts and one walk.
In game two, was competitive early and Seward again scored a run in the first. Butler scored three in the second. Seward countered with two in the third to tie the game 3-3. The Grizzlies scored four in the third and four in the fourth. The game ended with an eight after five run rule. Butler out-hit Seward 11-5. Ashanti Thompson had two hits and two RBI’s.
Butler is 23-7 overall and 14-2 in the Jayhawk. Seward falls to 12-22 overall and 7-11 in the Jayhawk. Seward hosts the Barton Cougars Saturday at 1pm at French Family Field.
