Bueno Named Lady Saint Soccer Coach

LIBERAL, Kan. — The Seward County Community College has named Marcela Bueno its new head women’s head soccer coach. She will begin her coaching duties on March 10.

Bueno spent the 2024-2025 season as an assistant coach for the Iowa Western Women’s Soccer program. Iowa Western was 16-0-4 on the year and ended the season with a Semi-Final loss on penalty kicks.
Bueno arrived at IWCC after spending 2 years as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Central Arkansas. While at UCA, Bueno helped the Bears finish 2nd in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2023. Prior to UCA, she was the men’s soccer assistant coach at Central Baptist College in the NAIA from 2021-2022 as well as an assistant coach at Central Arkansas Christian High School in 2021.
As a student-athlete, the São Paulo, Brazil native began her collegiate career at NJCAA DI Ranger College and earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Academic Team honors while serving as team captain her sophomore year during the 2017 season.  She transferred to Central Baptist College in 2018 earning school MVP her junior year as well being named Player of the Week on 3 occasions. While playing at Central Baptist, Bueno served captain for 3 seasons until she graduated in 2021.
Bueno graduated Central Baptist College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management and earned a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from UCA. She currently possesses a U.S. Soccer National D Coaching License.
The Lady Saints finished last season with a record of 2-12-6 and a Quarterfinal loss in the Region 6 Tournament. Coach Bueno will look to achieve a better result for the Lady Saints in the 2025-2026 season.
