Liberal’s J. Brooks Kappelmann is a first team all state baseball player. The Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches tabbed Kappelmann 1st team all state in 6A as a middle infielder. Kappelmann played shortstop for the 13-11 Redskins this spring. He hit .465 with seven doubles, six triples, 23 RBI’s, 28 runs, and nine stolen bases. The last time Liberal had a first team all state player was Tim Fitzgerald in 2016. Josh McSpadden (2001), Ruben Sigala (1993), Mike Meier (1993), and Dan Albrecht (1992) were also first team all state LHS baseball players. The Kansas Football Coach’s Association also named Kappelmann 1st team all state in the fall.
