Bright Start to Get New Furniture

The USD 480 Board of Education met Monday evening and after removing it from the table, the Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding with Fort Hays State University

This MOU with the college helps establish a formal affiliation between the employer and a qualifying cap-exempt entity (such as a college or university). This formal relationship may allow H-1B petitions to be filed under cap-exempt status, meaning the petition would not be subject to the annual H-1B lottery and could be processed at any time of the year.

The Board also approved the KESA goals as presented.

In new business, approved was the the purchase of Furniture and Equipment for Bright Start in the amount of $19,142.58 from Southern Office. Bright Start requested this funding to furnish an additional classroom and Special Education Resource Room that were added to the building this year, as well as a newly designated conference room.

Approved was the hiring of two additional speech paras for next school year, as was an additional elementary special education teacher.

The Board approved the service agreement with Cultivate Education to provide Behavior team support for the 2025-2026 school year and aproved the continuation of the Bullseye platform for a 3 year agreement in the amount of $48,000 in yearly payments of $16,000.

A three year renewal of Software was approved for Asset Essentials in the amount of $9,902.97 each year and the Board gave approval for the invoice from Linq in the amount of $22,080.97 for the Cafeteria.

Approved was approve the bid from Southwest Glass in the amount of $226,750

USD 480 was the bids to furnish and install replacement windows at Sunflower Elementary, Cottonwood Elementary and Bright Start Early Learning Center. Southwest Glass of Liberal received the bid.

The Board approved the pay scale and alignment for the Head Custodian Position and approved the City of Liberal Spring Sports Facility Use Memorandum Of Understanding.

Approved was a change order request for the LHS Rainscreen project in the total amount of $50,639.00, Chromebook purchase, and the creation of the Teacher Apprenticeship Program.

The Board also gave approval to purchase new football uniforms for Seymour Rogers Middle School which would include a home jersey, an away jersey, and pants for their players. Their current uniforms are 8 years old and no longer meet compliance standards. The total amount would be $11,286.
