A project to replace a bridge over Gyp Creek on U.S. 160 in Meade County has started and the Kansas Department of Transportation has closed U.S. 160 to through traffic from the U.S. 54/160 junction east of Meade to the north junction of U.S. 160/283 in Clark County. The highway will be open to local traffic only on either side of the bridge project.

            KDOT expects work on this bridge replacement project to be completed by the end of April, depending on weather. L & M Contractors, Inc., of Great Bend is the primary contractor on the project at a cost of $1.9 million
