Liberal, Kansas – After a fantastic freshman campaign on the mound for the Seward County Saints in 2023 that saw him earning First Team All-Region VI and First Team All-Conference honors, Brian Luna Alvarez has officially signed his NLI with the Texas Tech Red Raiders to continue his academic and baseball career at the Power Five level for the 2025 season.

Luna Alvarez started all of his 15 appearances on the mound for the Saints last season as a freshman, finishing first on the team in innings pitched with 81.0 and first in strikeouts with 103 which was good for over a strikeout per inning. He went 10-3 with an ERA of 5.44 for a Seward County team that went 33-26 overall in 2023.

The Saints pitcher will head south to Texas Tech for the 2025 season for a Red Raiders squad that went 41-23 during the 2023 season with a Big 12 record of .500 at 12-12. Texas Tech started the postseason strong, making their way to the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament, earning a big to the NCAA Regionals where the Red Raiders beat #10 UConn and #2 Florida, but fell to the Gators in games two and three to wrap up their season.

Luna Alvarez joins two of his teammates on signing day to ink their NLI with their respective four years school as fellow pitchers Trent Gerber (University of Central Oklahoma) and Elias Herrera (Northwestern Oklahoma State University) have signed to continue their academic and baseball careers.
