Bolivar Dominates Liberal Leg of Pancake Day Race

Liberal’s Pamela Bolivar led down Kansas, she led down 5th, and she sprinted to the finish down Lincoln. Bolivar was the dominant winner on the Liberal leg of the 75th International Pancake Day Race. Bolivar ran the race in 1:03.03. Olney’s winner is Kaisa Larkas as announced during the traditional Trans-Atlantic Call. Bolivar edged Larkas who ran the race in 1:03.37. Last year’s winner Isabelle Sullenger came in second and Minerba Lopez was third.
Bolivar is a 19 year old Liberal native. She attends Seward County Community College while also working at Southwest Medical Center as a certified nurse aid. Bolivar says she remembers running in the races when she was little. She ran cross country and track at Liberal High School.
Liberal leads the series 41-31 with two no contests. Last year, Eloise Kramer of Olney won Pancake day in 1:05 as Isabelle Sullenger ran the race in 1:13. Whitney Hay won the International race in 2022 at 1:07.45 while Olney’s Katie Godof ran the race in 1:10.
