Playing at Brent Gould Field at SCCC for the first time since 2008, the Liberal Redskins tangled with state power Blue Valley West for the opener Friday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.  The Jaguars swept the double header in a pair of run rule games 20-5 and 18-6.

In game one, the Jaguars scored two in the first before the Redskins took a 4-2 lead with four in the second.  Unfortunately for LHS, that would be the high point of the day as Blue Valley West scored 12 in the third and never looked back for the rest of the day.  The game only went four innings after the Jaguars scored six in the fourth.  BVW out-hit LHS 12-4.  Liberal’s defense was leaky with six errors.  Landon Martinez was 2-3 with an RBI in the loss.

In game two, Blue Valley West scored four in the first, two in the second, five in the third, three in the fourth, and four in the fifth.  The Redskins scored two in the third and four in the fourth.  BVW out-hit LHS 12-3.  Liberal  committed five more errors.  The Jaguars had three errors.

Liberal hosts Holcomb Tuesday at 4pm for a double header at the National Beef Sports Complex.
