KSCB News - June 19, 2014 6:34 am
Liberal coughed up a 10-2 lead after seven only to score a run in the bottom of the 12th for an 11-10 win over the Hays Larks Wednesday night at Brent Gould Field. The Bee Jays scored as Brady Cox swung and missed and Cody Erickson scored from third as the ball got to the backstop on a pitch Hays believed was fouled back. But the Bee Jays will take it as the win snaps a three came losing streak.
Seth Steven launched a solo homer over the center field wall in the second. Hays tied the game in the fourth when Tyler Leffler hit a home run. But Liberal countered with a three run fourth. Robert Dugger lined a three run shot over the left field wall. Hays scored a run in the fifth to make it 4-2. Liberal scored two runs on three hits in the fifth. Brady Cox singled home a run and Seth Stevens doubled home a run. Kyle Lieser singled home a run in the sixth to take a 7-2 lead. Liberal added three more in the seventh for the 10-2 lead. But Hays scored five in the eighth to make it 10-7 and Derrick Mount hit a three run homer to make it 10-10 in the ninth. Cody Erickson led off the 12th with a double to right and scored on the strikeout that went back to the backstop.
Justin Schnedler pitched six strong innings with seven strikeouts and four hits. But the bullpen behind him faltered allowing eight runs. Ryan Scott bailed out the bullpen with 2.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Chad Nack worked a scoreless 12th and got the win.
Seth Stevens was 3-5 with a homer and two doubles. Brady Cox was 3-5.
