The Liberal Bee Jays continue to put up dizzying numbers. The Bee Jays have now scored 81 runs in six games and improve to 6-0 after a 12-5 win over the Derby Twins Friday night at Brent Gould Field. Aaron Mees was 4-5 with a homer, a double, and four RBI’s. “This year I’m a veteran,” the sophomore from Chandler-Gilbert College in Arizona said. “Last year I was the young baby. I was real young compared to everyone else. I was really working in school on trying to shorten my swing.”

The BJ’s scored one in the first, three in the second when Mees blasted a homer to left, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and sixth, and three in the eighth when Rhode Island’s Kyle Borden launched a three run homer to center. College of Sequoias John Niggli (2-0) pitched six innings allowing two earned runs for the win. Blake Bergeron of Nicholls State was 3-5.

The Bee Jays are 2-0 in the Jayhawk League while Derby falls to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the Jayhawk. The Bee Jays host the Twins Saturday night at 7 p.m. It’s a night when Liberal Parks and Recreation teams can run the bases during the game. There will also be a youth clinic from 10 a.m.-noon and an autograph signing party at Epic PCS following the clinic.
