Bee Jays Wrap Up Regular Season with a Win

The Liberal Bee Jays won their final regular season game 12-8 over the Dodge City A’s Sunday night at Cavalier Field in Dodge City. Liberal is in position to win the Rocky Mountain League but needs the A’s to upset Hays at Hays Monday night.
The Bee Jays scored one in the first before a nine run second. The B.J.’s sent 14 batters to the plate for a half inning which went 51 minutes. The Jays chased home one in the fifth and one in the eighth. The A’s cut the lead to 11-8. Ryota Kusumoto went 3-6 with a homer and three RBI’s. Ben Merriman was 4-5 with a double. Lane Snow drove home three runs. The backend of the Bee Jay bullpen got the job done. Erek Lira pitched 2/3 scoreless in his B.J. debut. Trevor Steele worked two scoreless innings and Brooks Kappelmann closed it out with a scoreless ninth.
The A’s are 10-24 overall and 9-18 in the Rocky Mountain. Liberal is 24-7 overall and finishes 22-6 in the Rocky Mountain.
