The Liberal Bee Jays cruised to victory Sunday night in their NBC World Series Opener in Wichita. Liberal beat the Austin Gold Sox 8-1.

Paul Gonzalez earned the win for the Bee Jays lasting seven innings, and giving up just one run off of eight hits, five strikeouts, and no walks.

Nick Youpel and Tomas Cruz came in to pitch scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth respectively.

Liberal was the visting team and began the game well scoring four runs in the first inning.

The Bee Jays have now won their opener at the NBC for the third straight year. They are now 32-13 overall, and will play on Thursday. Their opponent and the gametime has not been determined yet. Stay tuned to kscbnews.net for more information on Thursday’s game.
