Bee Jays Win Home Finale

The Liberal Bee Jays finished 13-1 at Brent Gould Field after an 11-5 win over the Dodge City A’s in a non league game Friday night at Brent Gould Field. The Bee Jays wrap up the regular season 28-11.
Dodge City struck first against 17 year old starting pitcher J. Brooks Kappelmann with a two run second inning. Jackson Schofield launched a towering solo home run to right in the second to make it 2-1. Liberal tied it in the third. Coldon Kiser walked and stole second. Mateo Garcia ripped an RBI double down the right field line to tie the game 2-2. The Bee Jays broke the game open in the fifth with five runs. Coldon Kiser walked and scored on a wild pitch. Derek Lukes ripped a three RBI double over the center fielder’s head. Jackson Schofield singled him home. Liberal scored four in the sixth. Coldon Kiser and Ryuta Kusumoto singled. Mateo Garcia singled home a run. Nick Husovsky ripped a two RBI double down the right field line. Jackson Schofield singled home another run.
Liberal out-hit Dodge City 13-5 while Liberal committed two errors and DC had one. Brooks Kappelmann went four innings with six strikeouts and two walks allowing two runs. Zayden Martinez went 1 and 2/3 and Josh Doerr worked 1 and 1/3 scoreless. Jackson Schofield was the Epic Touch Player of the Game going 3-3 with three RBI’s. Ryuta Kusumoto was 3-4. Mateo Garcia was 2-4 with two RBI’s. Derek Lukes was 2-4 with three RBI’s.
Dodge City finishes 20-19 and Liberal is 28-11. The Bee Jays play the Seattle Studs Thursday night at 6pm at Eck Stadium at Wichita State with Bee Jay Dugout Show at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
