Bee Jays Take Opener Over Wellington

The Liberal Bee Jays were just thankful to be on the field, any field.  After their game Thursday night at home was rained out, the Bee Jays were scheduled to open at Wellington on Sunday night.  With too much rain at Hibbs-Hooten Stadium in Wellington, the venue shifted north to Wichita and the West Side Athletic Field.  The Bee Jays defeated the Heat 11-0 on a neutral field.

The BJ’s scored two in the first, three in the sixth, and six in the seventh for the win.  Liberal used seven pitchers combining on a two hit shutout.  Tyson Carlton, Adrian Najar, Holden Carpenter, Hunter Phillips, Luke Wilkerson, Ryder Slayton, and Tristin Crusenberry pitched an inning a piece.  The BJ’s had five hits while Wellington pitching walked 11.  Owen May drove home three runs.  Jackson Scofield doubled.

The Bee Jays win their third straight opener.  They play a double header at North Platte against the Plainsmen to begin a three game series.  The double header Wednesday begins at 5:30.  No radio for this road non league game.
